Flooding causes over $100 million dollars' worth of damage each year and causes more annual damage than any other natural disaster in Australia (Department of Transport & Regional Services). Over 2,000 people have also lost their lives during floods in Australia since settlement. As such, flooding can place a significant financial burden on communities and place lives at risk.

Flood Studies are required by the NSW State Government in order to provide solutions to existing flood problems in developed areas and ensuring new development is compatible with the flood hazard and does not create additional flooding problems in other areas.

This website aims to list information regarding current NSW Flood Studies that are underway and provide links to their dedicated websites (where available).
